Tunes of Tuesday: Doctor Who Remix 3 Pack

28 07 2009

Hey all, a little preface for today. Today, I woke up from a very odd dream.

In the dream, I was playing Mario 64, and I was being thrown into a level where a giant Bowser Ship floated on an ocean of lava. However, the lava kept sporadically becoming water, in appearance, or effect, or both, and vice versa.

However, once atop the ship, I found many coins, and at the back, a glassed in city street which housed a large grandfather clock and to the right, a telephone booth… upon inspection, it was the Time Machine from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

It grew quiet as I approached the clock, and I punched it. The clock’s hands moved sporadically, and the time machine vanished… and to the LEFT of the machine now stood… the Tardis from Doctor Who.

Amazed, I punched the clock again, and the music stopped instantly as the clock stuck twelve. The world grew dark and it began to storm like a typhoon as the Booth from Bill and Ted re-appeared, and all three combined into a Red Tardis with the antenna from Bill and Ted’s machine on top… I approached the machine, opened the door, and looked into gleaming light…

And I woke up.

I turned on the TV, only to discover that there was a Doctor Who marathon today, from 8 AM to 4 PM. I think it must mean that time is always changing, that my childhood experiences (I loved Bill and Ted as a kid), my teenage hobbies (I loved my 64 then) and my new nerdy experiences (just got into Doctor Who) will combine to take me further… to make me who I need to be.

Time travel is indeed a part of me, me thinks.

Either that, or I need to stop eating canned pastas after midnight and watching so much Supernatural.

That being said, the Doctor is today’s theme. Here you go, goblinites. We’ll start out a little goofy…

Then we’ll get nerdy and cool…

And finish it off with a little Red Tardis ROCK!

Tunes of Tuesday: Invincible

22 07 2009

So, I found out not too long ago that a few friends of mine were real wrestling geeks. Good for them, the world needs people of all kinds, and I’m no one to tell people what is and isn’t great.

That being said, I’m great, my blog is great, this song is great.

Song’s called ‘Invincible’ by Adelitas Way, and this is the only radio version of the song I could find. This is for you two, Kirk and Shylo. Keep up the fight, even if this isn’t the wrestling program you guys like.

The song is still awesome, especially if you’re envisioning super heroes and such. -GG

Tunes of Tuesday: Marian Call

14 07 2009

This week, I bring you guys some amazing nerd rock by equally amazing nerd rocker girl, Marian Call.

This is from her Firefly inspired tribute album, which includes a song about Jane and a cooler one about Saffron. Also check out ‘The Nerd Anthem’ and ‘Got to Fly.’

Now, go forth and rock! -GG

Tunes of Tuesday: Childhood Reimagined 2 Pack!

24 06 2009

I’ve already posted this once. Dang saving issues… So here we go again.

I know it’s late, sorry bout that, ya’ll.

This week, we’re looking at two videos that reimagine things from my childhood.

Thanks to Levus28 and beaufortribbons (respectively) in advance.

First, we’ve got Dragonforce’s “Through the Fire and the Flames” performed on the SNES game Mario Paint (ported to PC).

Sweet midi goodness.

Next, we’ve got a song called “Fun Punch” by the Bag Raiders to a proposed super sentai style show called Rescue Force, not to be confused with the inferior Tomica Hero Rescue Force.

Nice. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m fixing my post order and signing off. -GG

Tunes of Tuesday 2 Pack! MSG Edition!!!

16 06 2009

Ok readers. I was going to sleep, but I had three free iced mochas from McDonalds so… I’m a little wired.

So I decided to post the Tunes of Tuesday, and I’m feeling generous, so I’m giving you TWO great tracks to rock.

First up is a song from the upcoming Fall show, Glee. It’s a show about a glee club, and if THEY aren’t nerds, I’ve never met one in my life. Watch it. Love it. Wait for Glee.

Thanks to 87DemiLovato for that, I’ve been humming that all week.

What’s track two? A little number my bud Elliot linked me to. Thanks Elliot. It’s a Firefly tune called Mal’s Song, it’s a very grassroots performance of the full song where Firefly’s theme comes from.

Thanks to jaysedai for that video.

I love it. Hope you do too, readers!

Matt, shaddup. We all know you hate Firefly’s theme song. No, not you, Matticus. Different Matt.

Oh, and MSG stands for Mal’s Song and Glee. there ya go. -GG

Tunes of Tuesday: The Ballad of Barry Allen

10 06 2009

A guy I know was playing this in his car about a year ago, and it still gets stuck in my head.

Going too fast for you? Sorry. This here is my new segment for Tuesday: Tunes of Tuesday. Basically, I wanna hit the beginning of your week with what to watch with Movie Monday.

Next day, give you some tunes to rock during the week.

Then, Wednesday, we’ll have Midweek Mashup. Tune in, it’ll give you something to ponder.

Thursday, we’ll have the Thursday Top 5 so you can start your brain back up for the upcoming weekend.

Lastly, we have the Glitch of the Week on Friday, so that you can rush out and break some video games as the weekend arrives.

All with random articles when I feel like it as well as the pic of the day.

So, today’s Tuesday, so BAM, I present ‘The Ballad of Barry Allen’ by Jim’s Big Ego.

Kudos to TylerBickle for the video, Jim’s Big Ego for the song, and Niko for the first listen.

Hope that track rocks the work week and keeps time moving for ya.

Until tomorrow, I’m gunna stare at the clock until the next second passes… hmm… guess I’ll be here a while…  -GG
